Batman Bird Feeders

We recently made some neat ornaments with birdseed using a few simple supplies. We created them using the batman logo but you could do this using any shape. Hearts for Valentines Day could be cool, too! We just happen to be superhero fanatics around here.

You'll need bird seed, cardboard, tinfoil, a piece of string and crisco.

To make the batman birdseed ornaments like we did, first cut out a bat shape from cardboard. Then cover the bat shape with tinfoil, like this:Next cut a large circle out of cardboard. Paint the circle yellow (or black, or whatever color you like). I did all the cutting but the kids will have fun painting! Next let the kids smear the tinfoil bat generously with crisco. Once that's done, they can sprinkle the crisco with bird seed, covering it completely. Glue the bat to the circle, punch a hole in the top and tie a string. Try to find a place in a tree to hang it near branches that a bird can perch on. Waaaaah-la!
