One of the biggest gifts I've received this year is watching Alex and Iris's creativity grow. A year ago, when we would try to color, or draw, or make things out of play-doh, the kids would be occupied for perhaps five minutes. They just weren't into it. I didn't push it. We found other things they preferred to do. Ride bikes. Read books. Build puzzles. But this year both kids have developed a love of drawing and coloring that surpasses anything I could have imagined. They will both draw or color for an hour at a time, or more, and any time I mention bringing out paints you'd think I baked them each a chocolate cake. They are thrilled!
This "Renaissance" couldn't make me happier. I have so many fond memories of drawing as a kid. And I have even more fond memories of drawing with my cousins. There were lots and lots of short order fire trucks for Luke!
On his last day of Pre-K before the holiday, Alex brought home a gift bag for me and Josh with five cards and five envelopes that he made. Needless to say, I will never be able to mail them. In fact, I had to develop a new tag for this post, titled "Things Treasured."

ReplyDeleteBabe...they only need to show half your creative talent to be completely amazing:) I still have one of your pastel Indo drawings you did and framed for me in '93. Treasured :) xx B
ReplyDeleteAwwww....thanks B! Your comment just made my day. I'm so flattered you still have that drawing...and amazed the colors have held for 20 years! Egads.
